Over the two weeks, various topics were addressed by international and national experts from international organizations, governments, universities, NGOs, and CSOs, strengthening participants’ knowledge and skills on migration. The School covered various key themes, including but not restricted to the exploration of theories and definitions related to migration. The discourse extended to issues such as global migration trends, migration theories, transnational organized crime, human rights, and the intricate intersections of migration with gender, inclusion, climate change, and disasters.
In response to feedback from the first batch of Migration School participants, the second cohort has implemented several enhancements to enrich the learning experience. To facilitate deeper engagement with the resource persons, session durations have been extended, allowing students to have more interaction opportunities. Additionally, a new format – panel discussions – has been introduced to complement traditional lectures, fostering dynamic exchanges of ideas. Furthermore, the time of visits to government institutions has been increased. Visits have been facilitated to the Ministry of Labour, Employment, and Social Security, as well as the National Planning Commission. These visits provide invaluable insights into policy-making and implementation, further enriching the educational journey of the participants.
