Facilitation method

Instructor lectures with presentation of Power Points slides as introductory lessons on fundamental concepts, on different theories and models, divides participants into groups and assign the reading texts and facilitates group discussions, and ask for group presentation and summarization.

Morning session: 1-hour lecture session, and 1.5 hour of discussion

Facilitation method

  • Brian-storming session: ask students their experiences and observations related to global migration, international migration of Nepali and the impact (2-3 persons voluntarily)
  • Expository teaching using power Points slides giving meaning, trends of international migration including the cases of Nepal.
  • Dialogue sessions on the existing and emergent issues of international migration – the instructors shall create topics, group the participants, assigns reading topics and allow times to read the given reading materials and make their ideas and present in the class.
  • Reflection session: Based on the students’ presentation – instructor further generate the issues and challenges and ask the students search the literature and data and plan for addressing those issues and challenges.

Facilitation methods

  • Facilitator presents the basics and issues of internal migrations and internally displace people using Power point slides and inform the participants the situations they are given to work autonomously.
  •  Based on the issues (4-5) connected to internal migration and displacement, facilitator ask the participants in group (4-5) to make their plan of study (making topic, selecting resources, dividing works among the groups, prepare presentation in a format and present in the class. The facilitator supports on planning their learning activities. (self-directed learning approach)
  • Summarize the presentations by the facilitators

Facilitation  methods

  • Facilitator presents the overall objectives and the process of learning- Power point slides.
  • Gives the following themes to the four group from the participants and encourage to plan their study on these themes, and share in the next zig-saw group (form new four groups taking member from each of the four groups) and ask the zig-saw group to present in the class and assess the presentation by other remaining 3 groups and make comments (project works):
  • Labour migration its bright and dark sides in reference to social cohesion and people’s lifestyles.
  • Labour migration and impacts on national economy
  • Labour migrants, returnees, and employment issue
  • Labour migration, gender violence and family disintegration
  • Finally, facilitators remarks over the comments.

Facilitation  methods

  • The facilitator will make a comprehensive presentation covering national and international legal provision, national commitments using Power Point slides.
  • The facilitator will set a dialogue session (moderator and participants roles given to the participants in different groups). Assign the specific readings to the groups, let them do a critical review so that the participants will pick up the issues and conduct dialogue and draw conclusions.
  • Finally, the facilitator summarizes the sessions

Facilitation methods

  • Brain storming session on Nepal’s commitment on convention and treaties and their implementation: pop up ideas and comments collected for discussion.
  • The facilitator will make a comprehensive presentation using PowerPoint slides.
  • Run a panel discussion based up on the brain storming session’s pop-up ideas and comments and reading of the given text, the participants will organize this session.

Assignment

Preparation of the reform agenda and strategy for the improvement on the existing implementation status of the signed conventions and treaties.

In completion of this module, the participants will be able to:

  • Explain the relation of sex, gender, gendering implications on migration.
  • Analyze gender inclusive treatments on migration concerned matters,
  • Examine the situation of sexual and other forms of abuses and suggests measures to address them.
  • Visualize the role of family and other stakeholders, and diplomatic missions to prevent/mitigate the migrants related abuses in internal and international migrations.

This module will cover:  total: 6 hours

1.       Gender and inclusion and its implication on migration

2.       Sexual and other forms of abuse to the migrants

3.       Educating refugees and migrants children

4.       Role of family and diplomatic missions on addressing migration issues.

Training methods

The facilitator gives a verbal exposition on gender and migration.

  • Present two cases of gender and migration (text or audio-visual story) and divide the participants into groups and ask them to prepare a plan to sort out the cases using their experiences, provided readings and other relevant resources. The plan should cover awareness, competence development, and preserving the rights.
  • The groups present their outputs and discuss. (Case-based problem-solving approach)
  • The facilitator will summarize the presentations.

1.       Effect of climatic conditions and natural calamities on migration (extreme weather conditions, floods, landslides, drought, etc.)

2.       Destruction of natural habitat and arable land and migration of population: vulnerable population and their protection

3.       Migration and its impact on agricultural productivity

4.       Psychological impacts of climate change and natural disaster

Facilitation methods

  • The facilitator makes a comprehensive presentation on migration, climate change and disaster interconnections and created issues and challenges using power point slides.
  • Organize a discussion presenting the cases of internal and international migration due to climate change and disaster (text and or audio-visual form).
  • Conduct a discussion on the issues and relevant measures to resolve the issues.

Assignment

Prepare essay on selected issues of migration, climate change and disaster. (Participants are independent on making their topics based upon the given readings)
